Ardagh Metal Packaging earns leadership CDP “Supplier Engagement” score

Published March 31, 2023

Earlier this year, CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), a non-profit environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating agency, bestowed Ardagh Metal Packaging S.A. (AMP), a global supplier of beverage cans, with leadership ratings of A- for Water Management and a B rating for Climate Change.

CDP recently followed up these scores with further analysis of AMP’s sustainability performance and have notified the company of an A grade for Supplier Engagement. The Supplier Engagement score is determined by CDP’s assessment of the organisation’s alignment, communication and shared objectives with its supply base in order to mutually achieve sustainability targets.

To note, CDP measures and assesses the risks and opportunities on climate change, water security and forests. CDP included more stringent scoring in 2022 in order to drive best practices, improve data quality and better track organisations’ commitment on limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and, per the Paris Agreement of 2015, achieve net zero emissions by 2050. In 2022, more than 18,000 organisations around the world participated in the ratings by CDP.

AMP, through such third-party verifications, is building off the inherent environmental advantages of the products the company manufactures – infinitely recyclable beverage cans, which are a perfect example of a circular economy with recycled cans able to return to retail shelves in their original form in about 60 days.

“This leadership level CDP Supplier Engagement rating for AMP further demonstrates we are on track to deliver our sustainability commitments,” said Oliver Graham, CEO, AMP. “This particular score reflects strong teamwork with our supply base to drive environmental excellence in support of the end-to-end beverage can value chain.”
